Performance Verification:
System Performance Verification is performed according to ISO 10360-8 International Standard for non-contact CMMs, while the total permissible error is defined as \plusmn\sqrt{\lparen{MPEe}\rparen^2+\lparen{MPEe}\rparen^2} where

MPEp: Maximum Permissible Probing Error
The following procedure is used to evaluate the MPEe:
Five different calibrated test lengths are placed in each of seven different positions (locations and orientations) in the measuring volume of the CMM, and each length is measured three times, for a total of 105 measurements. Four of the seven positions are the space diagonals. The default remaining three positions are parallel to each of the CMM axes.
The following procedure is used to evaluate the MPEp:
25 points are selected from the measuring area on the test sphere. The points are evenly distributed to cover all measurement points. Using all 25 representative points, unconstrained Gaussian (i.e. least-squares) best fit is computed to the associated sphere. For each of the 25 representative points, the Gaussian radial distance is calculated. The range of Gaussian radial distances of the 25 representative points with respect to the least-squares sphere center is recorded, i.e. the apparent sphere form. The absolute value of this difference is the probing form
